A massive congratulations to our Chess team for a highly successful and competitive day at the recent Sydney Catholic Schools Chess Championships! Our young men represented the College with outstanding sportsmanship, strategic brilliance, and a determination that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

The future of MCK Chess looks incredibly bright as our Junior A team continues to impress, securing 2nd place overall and agonisingly missing out on the championship trophy by just half a point!

Our Junior B team showed incredible resilience throughout the day. Confronted with tough opponents, they pushed through every round and never gave up, ultimately finishing the tournament just outside the top placings. Their grit was a true reflection of the MCK spirit.

In the Intermediate division, our boys fought hard, just missing out on the silver medal again by half a point, as a dominant Marist College Eastwood side took home the trophy. It was a stellar effort against fierce competition.

Our Senior team played some excellent, high-level chess. While a few early mistakes unfortunately left them just outside the podium placings, they recovered well and finished the day strong, proving they can match it with the best.

As always, we are super proud of our young men and the incredible spirit they show, no matter the challenge in front of them.

Congratulations to all students who have demonstrated the MCK Graduate characteristic of being an Achiever this semester by consistently striving for their personal best, showing resilience and motivation, and remaining curious and thoughtful in their learning.

A massive congratulations to our 6 Representative teams who competed in the SCS Conference 3 Winter Grand Finals.
Our football teams enjoyed a spectacular day on the pitch, bringing home three championship titles. In the Senior A Grand Final, the boys claimed the title with a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory following a tense 1-1 draw at full time. Our Junior A team also secured the win with a gritty 2-1 win over Caringbah, while the Junior B squad capped off a brilliant season by fighting to the very end for a thrilling 1-0 victory in the final minutes of the match.
We also congratulate our Grand Final runners-up who battled bravely until the final whistle. In Rugby League, the Under 16s fought hard in a physical 24-10 match against St Patrick's. In football, the Intermediate A side held a 1-0 lead for most of the match before conceding a late equalizer to finish 1-1, ultimately falling 4-2 on penalties. Our Intermediate B team also finished as proud grand final runners-up following a physical 3-0 contest against Rosebank.
Following these brilliant campaigns, our Senior A, Intermediate A, and Junior A football squads have officially qualified to represent the College at the Sydney Championships. We wish these teams the absolute best of luck as they prepare to take on the premier school teams from across the SCS Competition. Thank you to all the dedicated staff, coaches, and families who supported our players throughout this highly successful winter season!

In Week 9, our Stage 5 Computing Technology classes were treated to Neuranext’s hardware catalogue of three human‑form robots, a canine robot, and a tracking drone presented by Adrian Tyson. He showcased how rapidly AI education and robotics are evolving, giving students a hands‑on look at technologies shaping future industries.

The students were not game enough to take on AGIBOT or Rizzbot in a breakdance battle or karate contest however, they got a close look at just how close we are to having humanoids become part of our daily lives.

Last Friday, 19 June, our Year 10 students participated in a memorable Reflection Day focused on community, connection, and empathy.

The day was packed with:

🤝 Team-building workshops that strengthened the cohort's community spirit.

🕊️ An eye-opening presentation from the Jesuit Refugee Service, including a powerful personal story from an Iranian refugee.

🖤💛❤️ An inspiring talk by Patrick O’Reilly from Marist 180 on their support programs for Indigenous Australians.

Our students walked away not only more connected to each other, but deeply inspired by the incredible work being done to help those in need. Thank you to everyone involved in making this day so impactful!
